How Can Sports Psychology Help Athletes?

The question you need to ask yourself is this: Am I performing up to my capability? I’m sure you know some fellow athletes who have “great talent” or physical skills, but haven’t played up to their potential. One of the myths athletes buy into is that you first must develop “perfect” technique or knowledge about ones sport before you can work on the so-called mental game. But, from my perspective, you cannot separate the mental from the physical when it comes to motor skills. Decisions, thoughts, images, and feelings set up each action you take. Sports psychology helps athletes develop confidence and focusing skills as they master the technical aspects of the game. Athletes often ask me this question: “How...

Support Group for Performance Challenged Engines

The heart of the circulatory system in vehicles is the engine. Your engine could be performance-challenged if it exhibits one or more of these symptoms: ·Chronic Fatigue ·Listlessness or Sluggishness ·Difficulty Maintaining Former Miles Per Gallon ·Hemophiliac Emissions ·Irritability ·Octane Deprivation As the primary caregiver of your engine, you’ve accepted the responsibility for maintenance, e.g., purchasing fuel, changing spark plugs, lubricating valves, changing oil, etc., but in spite of meticulous nurturing, your engine continues to be unreceptive. No…picture doing golf exercises that mimic your golf swing and have a direct impact on your power, accuracy and consistency. This new outlook will be a huge motivating factor in the success of your golf exercise program. When you envision the end result, it makes...

When companies think of employee development, they often search for training programs, educational seminars, coaching or the latest book that might offer ideas on what employees can do to sharpen skills or strengthen expertise. However, none of these programs will be effective if the organization lacks one critical success factor: individual motivation. An individual has to want to develop himself before any employee training and development program can be successful. Some say they’re “too busy.” Some say they’re “already developed.” Some blame the boss. Some like burying their heads in the sand, afraid of what they might learn about themselves. What can you do to help your employees achieve best performance? Here are some tips to help...

Latest Psychological Technique Accelerates Sales Results

Business owners have always wondered why one salesperson gets great results while others fail to hit the mark.In a recent survey by Nightingale Conant, 2663 sales organisations were questioned and 41.48% of sales directors said their sales staff are performing below expectations. Whatever you believe you can do, you can; and whatever you believe you can’t do, you can't. Like everyone, salespeople hold private beliefs about themselves, clients, market, competition, economy—beliefs that can have an enormous impact, either positive or negative, on their sales performance. While most Sales Directors understand the concept of managing activity levels, skills development and product knowledge, only the top performing Sales Directors understand the importance of the right mindset. Yet far too many feel powerless to...

Employee Discipline and Performance Problems - Quicktips For Managers

1. Never procrastinate with a performance problem. If you don't address the issue when it arises, staff will question whether you are doing anything at all.2. When talking to an employee about a problem, phrase your comments in terms of preventing the problem from recurring. Use the inappropriate performance as a jumping off point, indicate why it is problematic, and then quickly move on to preventing re-occurence. This moves the focus from blame to improvement.3. Whenver possible, elicit the employee's suggestions about how to prevent the problem from recurring. Put the responsibility for suggesting solutions with the employee. When possible, help the employee implement their solution.4. Make it clear that your comments pertain to behaviour or performance, and not the...
